I am tired of going to the LFS all the time and pretty sure an RO/DI will pay for itself in the long run. I'm a newbie-are they all pretty much the same? I have a 29g and a 75g... Can I set it up when I need to make water and break it down when I'm done?

Look for AZdesertrat to chime in. He gives some great advice..

But the short answer to your question is NO they are not all the same..

I use one but Bulk Reef Supple as well as other, but there are a lot of good options out there.

No they are not the same. Some make 0 TDS water and others wont. In our hobby, (as you may know) 0 TDS is a must!

I have had great customer service and a great product from the filter guys. They are a sponser on here as well.

I don't know... Lol that's what I get for just accepting premixed RO/DI water for $1/gallon from the LFS... I am looking at RO/DI units and trying to find out how I would even be able to set it up and whatnot and coming up more confused than I went in! Filtration is not my forte. Well...nothing is my forte yet, but I'm trying!

I use the BRS 4 Stage Value Plus RO/DI filter, it works really well, and has all of the features you would want. I consider this the entry level unit that you should not go below, buying a filter with out the features this one has would be a mistake in the long run.

I have heard lots of good reviews of the filter guys filters, but after looking at what they offered I chose to go with BRS.

Not by a long shot, there are huge differences in quality and effectiveness.

Look for a name thathas been around in a brick and mortar storefront for years and who has experience in the industry.
No other vendor has the experience of Spectrapure. They are the only vendor to specially treat all their RO membranes using a proprietary process to improve their performance and to subject them to testing for quality control. They are the only vendor to offer a 99% guaranteed rejection rate on their Select series hand tested membranes. They use only near absolute rated low micron sediment and carbon block filters rather than coarse 5 or 10 micron filters about as effective as a screen door. They custom blend every ounce of their own DI resins in house based on thousands of hours of real world and lab testing so you get only the freshest best resin. They use only capillary tube flow restrictors so you the end user can fine tune your system while most others use fixed type that are hit and miss.

It all adds up to longer life, lower cost of ownership and better water quality for longer between component changes. There really is a difference.

Check out the FAQ section at the lower left corner of their main web page at www.spectrapure.com where you will find answers to all your questions and more. The proof is in their almost 30 years as the leader in the industry and al the patents, copyrights and trademarks they hold. They are innovators not imitators and do not sell anything they have not first researched for months or years before offering it for sale. Look at systems like their MaxCap or MaxCap UHE which are unique in the industry and nothing like them is sold by anyone else. Or their new Super DI cartridges with 30% more capacity and manufactured exclusively by them.
