There's some real nice looking anemones sold on here every once in a while, does anyone know if I can buy them? I know I can buy soft corals like zoas and mushrooms as long as there's no live rock (protected by CITES) but can I buy nems?

You saw this must be, it's pretty.

I see a lot of anemones that I want to buy, that is one of them
I'm actually slightly more interested in the blue one, never seen a solid blue BTA

Cites does not apply to you the hobbyst but to importers and exporters and divers who actually collect wild species. So yes you can buy a nem or live rock and any coral attached to that live rock. Now some down here don't want to deal with customs as stuff can sit with them and die and therefore will not ship to Canada but quite a few places can and will ship to you (shipping is pricey I am sure)

Well when you're paying $1200 dollars on a chalice frag, $150 shipping doesn't look like much
That's interesting, never knew that. You're telling me next time I go to MACNA I can bring something back too?

If I understood correctly Coralfarms.ca out of Toronto Canada could not ship to me without a cites permit. Really bummed because after conv. to USD the prices were fantastic.

I don't see how cites would have anything to do with you. Now maybe if they were shipping for the USA to Canada that could be considered importing/exporting (maybe). I would try again with a different company. Because if you had to have a permit we all would need a permit. Cites covers more than just rocks it protects pretty much all marine animals (not just marine animals either but I will keep it to this hobby) that have come from the ocean. That means no rock, fish, coral, nems, clams or anything else especially sea horses and no LFS would be able to sell to any of us without a permit and I would think most LFS don't have a permit either as they buy from a wholeseller generally in the same country.

That's absolutely importing/exporting, and CITES does apply.

Back to the question, I'm thinking Anemones probably don't but I am not sure of the answer.

Didn't see, to hget notifications for these previous posts. Thanks for the help @evolved, I didn't know how to check.
@scardall I had no idea coralfarms.ca existed, their selection is amazing, they have all the corals I never thought I'd get my hands on in Canada! Thanks for showing them to me :D
