I am looking at this valve for my next setup.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0079JVEG...=UTF8&colid=3XEDG82S421&coliid=I3GN65B1DDMF9C

I emailed the company and they responded

"Our valve is not FDA approved. The material is glass filled polypropylene. The O-rings are FKM/ Viton rubber. Thanks."

I know that just because it isn't FDA approved it doesn't mean much as they probably just did't want to go through the process of getting it approved.

Has anybody used these valves and do you know if they are reef safe?

Thanks

Eddie

Yes. In general, FDA safe is also reef safe, excluding copper/brass, of course and all of those materials are used in other fittings routinely used in reef tanks.

If you need further reassurance, Bulk Reef Supply also sells them. :)

I didn't see any 3-way valves in this size at BRS. I got one from US Plastics
https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=30666
but even though it is a 3/4" NPT fitting the opening in the ball is 1/2". I was looking for a 3-way 3/4" and the Banjo is the only one i could find at a reasonable price that was 3/4" through out (I don't want to restrict my return flow any more than necessary). I just didn't know if it was reef safe.

You can always use a pvc tee with a on/off ball valve off each leg. Its extra parts, but you can get cepex which wont seize up after a year.

That's an option but I was hoping for a cleaner install. I may have to go that way though.
Thanks
