I've read up on them and seem to find a lot of conflicting information.
Some say they are. Others say they aren't.
I purchased a frag of "Forest fire" from one store, and a frag of "bubblegum" from another. Turns out they were identical.
Now, the question is:. Was one mislabeled? Or are they the same coral that just colors up differently with different lighting?
Here is a bad pic of my "forest fire"
Red polyps, blue base. New growth is light green.

They're different but you might not notice until both get happy and grow a decent amount.

FF will lack the blue base of the BGM. But it's not uncommon for the blue base to come last as it adjusts to your tank.

Well, mine definitely has a blue base. So, it's probably a bubblegum then.
Guess I will look for a real forest fire digi.

Is it possible that the base turns darker green with lower light?

My forest fire got a touch more green coloration to the old growth when I moved it down to lower light.

They are not the same, 100% different. I have both in my system.
Forest fire; deep green base, gray growth tips
Bubblegum; baby blue base, green growth tips

I find a lot of reefers get them confused, especially if they bought it with the incorrect name.

I definitely see a difference, but I think tank height miyht be the driving difference. I put a forest fire in a lower light area and it turned blood orange.

A very blue shot of what I was sold as bubble gum.

Not sure what mine is.
New growth has some green to it.
It would be much taller if I did not break off a large piece when working in the tank a few months ago, lol.
Just took this one.

Bubblegum, note the green tips, blue base

iPhone photo. Here’s my Bubble Gum. Light Blue base, neon green new growth color. This is on my sand bed. Not sure if this helps you but figured I post what I bought labeled as a bubble gum digi.

One is blue and one is green. Different. But many stores probably mix them up or lie and sell them as 2 separate ones to make a few extra bucks.

Bubblegum - bluish/purplish body, orange polyps, yellow/neon green growth tips

Forest Fire - green body, orange polyps, grayish-blue growth tips
