Will a bulkhead tighten from the bottom only with little pressure from the inside tank fitting? I'd like to install my bulkheads once the tank is up against the wall but not sure if I'll be able to access the inside then (large tank and don't want to worry about setting it on an exposed bulkhead while moving). If I put a little pressure on the bulkhead inside the tank with the standpipe will I be able to tighten it from the bottom without holding the inside supper tight?

If I can get to the nut with a wrench and keep the gasket on the other side of the glass, I don’t have any problem as long as the threads don’t strip out. Use schedule 80 bulk heads for sure.

Oh, and to answer your question. No. In my experience, the bulk heads will leak if they are not tightened with a wrench. Don’t put them where you can’t reach the nut to tighten them.
