May be a dumb question.....but how do people take pictures of their reef where every single coral is fully open and looks perfect? I only have about 14 coral and there is never a day where everyone of them is open at the same time. At least once a day every one of my LPS and soft corals are closed or closing. It doesn't last all day...they eventually open back up to their full glory. There could be two of the exact same coral, right next to each other, and one of them will be closed while the other looks perfect. The only coral that always look good are my sps. Is this normal behavior for coral or are they just not as happy as they should be?

I find mine to be "moody" I have LPS and a toadstool but my tank has it's peak hour usually around 1-3:30 in the afternoon where everything is open at its prime. Hope this helps.

I never consider this, I always attributed a coral being closed as one of the critters must have touched it lately. My hermit crabs and snails seem to be very active.

Some are sensitive to lights as well. I notice some of my zoas closing up mid day, I assume they had their share of lights for the day.

I especially notice it with my Duncans (which lately have only been opening up fully at night) and most of my soft coral but even my Torches, Frogspawn, and Hammer seem to shrink down pretty often. I think I can count maybe 5 times where everything was open fully at the same time lol.
