I have a group of fish in a hospital tank. Once they have gone through the copper treatment, I will move them to a qt. I have a second group that need the copper, which leaves only an eel and inverts in the tank. I would like to put the tank into a fallow period. I was told eels don't do well in copper. So my thought is to put the eel into the clean qt with the first batch on fish.

Can eels be a carrier? I dont want to introduce anything into my clean qt.

I have heard that eels do not carry ich, because they have a lot of mucus and slime on their bodies. Ich need scales to attach to the fish, but eels don’t have scales so they should be fine. For using copper, I know one guy at LFS used coppersafe on an eel and it did go well.

I think the plan then is to put the eel in the clean qt with cleaner shrimp hopefully that helps. I dont want to risk the eel in copper

Ways to make sure an eel is not carrying parasites:
CP Chloroquine Phosphate works well for all common parasites: velvet, ich, brook, uronema.
TTM works but not on Velvet or uronema

You could go with the Tank Transfer Method for the Eel if you wanted to as an alternative

What about Seachem paraguard? And is that safe to go from qt to dt? I have a lot of sick fish and 2ill have to house them in two tanks while I go fallow

Wont be an effective alternative.

That's the beauty of CP. All fish, eels, etc. can be treated with it together.
