Are live phytoplankton removed when using an activated carbon reactor?

I am trying to get a solid answer on what types of filtration negatively affect the phytoplankton I am dosing in my tank? I have 28 Gal Fijicube and Sump. The sump has a 200 micron filter sock and chaeto, along with a small BRS reactor filled with activated carbon.

Does either of these filter systems remove live phyto from my system? How do I ensure that my phyto is available to my pods in the refugium (if the sock is filtering it out)?

Feed some phytoplankton directly to the sump if you think the pods are hungry.

Phytoplankton is smaller than 200um, so it will pass through those socks.

Carbon won’t adsorb phytoplankton.

That being said, you can target feed your copepods phytoplankton in the sump. They might appreciate a concentrated burst of phyto, rather than the small diluted amount when it mixes with the bulk water.

I will add the phyto there and leave the pumps off for the feed cycle at least! thx!
