Are Marineland 75g tanks trouble??

I'm thinking of upgrading to this size and Petsmart has this tank with a wood stand for c. $500. I'd drill the back for an internal overflow. I've heard bad things about Marineland tanks and wanted to see if they were truth or legend. Also, if I wanted to buy a glass reef ready tank this size, who sells them and what is a reasonable price? I don't need fancy glass, just something that won't leak, as I plan on having it for a long time. Any help would be appreciated!

Have a 27 cube and have never had problems with it. I have never really heard bad things about Marineland

I just bought one recently. I did have to exchange the first stand because the center brace was damaged during manufacturing. I would say to check the seams and trim really well. I have seen gaps in the silicone and large gaps in the trim.

I been shopping around for tanks for months and the best prices I see are at glasscages.com and the tanks can be ordered reef ready for 75.00 more in most cases. I heard good things about them and I'm buying a tank from soon. I hope this helps.

I forgot if your in Miami then Reef Savy is in Miami to they make a good tank but they cost a little more than glasscages.

Thanks everyone! Is it worth it to buy tank ready? I'm pretty handy so I'm trying to figure out if a diy might be the way to go.

Most tanks a tempered at least the bottom piece of glass is so you can't drill it but most will say on a tag under the bottom glass they are so you might be able to drill the back panel. I assume you new that but I had better say it if you did not. As for drilling glass its not to hard. I worked for a glass shop a few years. Most DIY people use silly putty in a circle around where you will be drilling on the glass to hold a little water while you drill and don't press to hard go slow the main thing is don't let the glass get hot or it will crack. You can buy a diamond tip hole saw off Ebay or at harbor freight cheap. Its not to hard and once you do it once it will be easy for you. If you make a mistake the glass can be cut out and replaced on the tank.
