I recently jumped on the MP wagon after getting tired of having to clean my little Jebao power heads every week. I picked up two used from separate sources and I’m really surprised by the noise level of the dry side. It’s something I can live with and I find I’m already starting to phase it out, but still surprised given I see people saying they’re “dead silent”. I use a canister filter and my lights are truly silent, so the pump noise is really evident when you’re next to the tank.
We also don’t have kids, no dog, the tank is in a quiet area of the house etc. I wonder if when people say they’re silent that’s relative to the background noise of a protein skimmer, overflow, TV, kids playing, and dog barking?
I’m not really complaining I just don’t see how anyone could ever say they’re silent and kinda wanna make sure mine aren’t faulty/I’ve got owl ears!!
Attached is a video of mine: bare in mind the iPhone amplifies the noise so it sounds worse than it is, but does the kind of sound it’s making seem normal? This is running at 20% in lagoon mode. I will use the cable ties to hook them up, just trying to figure out still where best to place them.
