I’ve been carbon dosing and jellyfish-like white things that kind of look like translucent plastic bags in the ocean appeared from nowhere and my pyramid butterfly fish ate the whole thing in one bite.

I expected him to spit it out, but he swallowed it.

Really cool how fish eat bacteria like that.

How nutritious is that? Does anyone else get that bacteria thing floating around? They are interesting and I don’t mind them.

I doubt its harmful, and was more of an impulse "ooo floaty thing good" kind of experience.

Lord knows what my CBB has eaten.

Lol. I bet that’s exactly what my fish thought.

I found this image from an old Reef2Reef thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/is-this-biofilm.758216/

That looks allot like a slime coat which I guess could be bacteria, the scientifics idk, but I know my foxface sheds something similar to that. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but now with a picture I bet someone will!

How's the tank doing, do you have any sweet pictures of those beautiful fish ?!

I get that quite often. IIRC I saw a snail emitting it once. I'm pretty sure it's not bacteria although if you have no snails...

This happens to me all the time when I turn off then on the return pump. The Bacteria builds in the pipes and when they return back on it dislodges chunks of it. Sometimes I try to scoop with net but a lot of pieces escape. Definitely the bacteria from nopox. And although my fish spit it out NEVER had a problem.

Also I know it is bacteria because when I stopped nopox it went away. It is the same white film on glass but in much thicker chunks since I never clean my pipes so just builds. You will be fine
