Hello, I have a Red Sea 525. I previously had it set up at a fish only tank and had it lit with two kessil a360x.

I have recently changed direction and have changed my stocking to reef friendly fish. I have purchased and am keeping a number of LPS and softy corals. My question is will the two kessil lights be enough? So far all the corals seem happy but I’m obviously looking for growth. Thanks in advance for your help!

The two lights are probably ok - they are designed for 24x24 each. I would keep the higher demand in the center of tank and higher up. Might be a little weak around the edges.

If so considering the size you may want to add more light. Personally I would buy either another a360x, a t5 aquatic life hybrid fixture, or some Orphek OR3s to act as accent. I am no expert but this is just a personal opinion.

They are enough but if you want a even spread I would add the OR3s or an extra light

I like to plan for the future when the corals grow and you need more spread.

Here is a link to a video on your lights - should provide some additional info.

Agree. I have seen some really nice tanks w/ the hybrid T5 method.

Not looking to do T5 as I have an open top. I’m happy to hear most are saying I should be able to get away with my current set up. I may consider an additional a360x in the future

The OR3s are not t5s rather led bars that are don’t heat up like t5, are stronger, and don’t need to replace them

I looked into them, don’t have much of a mounting option for that. I’m hoping to get away with my 2 kessils for now and might add a third. I just wanted to make sure with my current light set up I wasn’t going to end up loosing and coral or not having any growth
