Are my mushrooms dead or dieing?

Are my mushrooms dieing? They came with this awesome piece of live rock and figured why not a two for one?

Is it because they have TO much light?

Salinity is 1.024-1.026
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Ph 8.3
Ammonia .25 ppm
Temp is 81

They arent happy. That is for sure. The .25 ammonia doesn't help, nor does the 81° temp. None in and of itself is fatal, but all contribute to an unhappy shroom

Do you think the light is at all to blame? Ill lower the temp as soon as possible luckily im here in canada and can crack the window and it's cooler out. I just did a water change so hopefully that helps the ammonia.

Could you tell me please what most reefers optimum temp is for mixed reef?

Somewhere between 75° and about 77° some would call ideal. Many a reefer have tanks that get up to the low 80's all he time.
Almost never fatal, but combine a temp in the upper range of acceptable with Ammonia, and a new tank without an established biological filter, some stuff is going to be rather unhappy or even die.
Adding something like Biospira, Fritzime, or good ole Dr. Tim's will help move things into the correct direction bacteria wise. Temp is another story...

Ill fix the temp no problem. But i just dont want them to die and nuke the tank

Going to fast is the #1 reason a new reefer has trouble. Go slow. Read lots, ask lots of questions and resist the urge to go crazy at the LFS... Trust me, you'll be better for it in the long run..

Of course my god dang test kit is API ***** sake lol. Got any recommendations?

Temp should be 77-79 and salinity at 1.026 and ph range - 8.0-8.2
Moderate light with moderate water flow. You don't want to blast shrooms with water current and bright light

75 is a bit to cold IMHO. I run mine at 78 but 79 seems to be ok for a lot of people.

You don’t have ammonia...0.25 is almost surely a false reading on API, especially when using wet live rock. The ammonia isn’t the problem. @brandon429 will confirm this. I’d say get nitrates up. What are your phosphates. Calcium? ALK? MAG? 75 degrees would be too cold. 78-80 is acceptable.

i agree it’s some other issue besides ammonia, no problem there provided dead snails accounted for etc

the fish swimming normally and non cloudy water show the system can control ammonia well

dang really? I didnt even know that it reads that i have some ammonia but i guess thats my garbage testing kit (as someone previously API is **** and thats what i have of course).

Got any recommendations on a testing kit that may catch what the actual problem is?

If that type of mushroom gets too unhappy, it will likely let go of the rock and fall to the bottom of the tank. Just something to look for.
