so this morning i put up our new t5 lighting fixture over the tank about 15-20 mins later they looked fine and nice and their mouths seemed a little pointed and then some of these began releasing some sort of brown tiny things. looks like tiny tiny tiny brown seeds. it is not mushy or stringy or anything just little tiny brown things being pushed out their mouth area.

i have never never ever seen them do this so not sure what is happening.
to not they look fine and are all opened up and everything they dont seem unhappy at all.

i am just curious what these tiny little brown things are... is is poop???

by the way my pygmy cherub angel is loving the little brown things as they are coming out of the polyps and is eating them. ???

thanks for help..........

Your zoas may be spawning sexually. Most zoas reproduce asexually but under certain conditions, they spawn sexually and release oocytes/gametocytes. That may be what the brown things are and why your angelfish seems to be gobbling them up.

Sorry too say guys and gals but zoos do poop so to speak! :D

You were right and wrong all at the same time!! They were "expelling," we call it "pooping!"

LOL!
