Ok...My purple firefish is pretty confident in his aquarium. Maybe as the royal gramma grows up he is used to having the firefish around?A young royal gramma will probably be ok...they tend to become very territorial and aggressive after a couple of years, though...especially in a small space. You might find your firefish spends most of its time in a rock hole...they are very timid.
Possibly....at worst case, you might have to re-home the Gramma if he is aggressive. But, there may be no problems at all.Ok...My purple firefish is pretty confident in his aquarium. Maybe as the royal gramma grows up he is used to having the firefish around?
Fish are like humans, They're all different.Possibly....at worst case, you might have to re-home the Gramma if he is aggressive. But, there may be no problems at all.
Awesome!I kept one of each in a 20g long quarantine tank for several weeks without any issues.
My firefish was placed in the tank first.I have both in one tank and no issues
I did place the fire fish in the tank first
I have both as well in a 300. The Gramma is unlikely to actually nip if it becomes territorial but it may scare the firefish in to hiding. If that happens the firefish might not eat. Just watch for that.My firefish was placed in the tank first.

The grammas aggressive behavior is really cool IMO. I ooens its mouth like a dragon to scare the other fish.
Two of my favorite fish. I say go for it!

Good to know.If fire fish gets too close, gramma opens its mouth and fire fish goes the other way
Yup. It's my favorite "aggressive" behavior of any fish. "Beware of my breath!"If fire fish gets too close, gramma opens its mouth and fire fish goes the other way
Then the firefish is like "Dude get a breathmint!" and swims away.Yup. It's my favorite "aggressive" behavior of any fish. "Beware of my breath!"
The Orchid Dottyback is also somewhat similar to the Gramma and fairly mild. (Absolutely stay away from the "Purple" or Diadema Dottybacks......they have teeth, enough said). What's your opinion on these two fish in a 90 gallon tank being introduced at the same time?A young royal gramma will probably be ok...they tend to become very territorial and aggressive after a couple of years, though...especially in a small space. Make sure the lid is covered, fire fish can and will jump.I have a 13.5 gallon fluval with a firefish. Can I add a royal gramma? The tank is established.
