hello everyone. I am saving up to buy a red sea reefer peninsula 650 this summer.
I was thinking I would drill the back so I could use a closed loop system instead of power heads.

Dose anyone know if these tanks are tempered. I have drilled 2 tanks in the past. But the idea of braking a tank that cost 3k makes me uneasy. I don’t have allot of money so I have to save for big expenses.

I think a closed loop system would Work best on a peninsula. But it’s not worth breaking it.
Thanks.

@Kershaw
If you don't know by Monday in the am.
I'll get a hold of Red Sea Kev and he'll tell us if there tempered or not.

Freddie

Did you find out?
Kershaw,
I'm sorry. I forget the send an email to Kevin Davies this morning.
He is head of Red Sea Support and lives in England.

We are good friends and I'll shoot him an email when I get to work.
Most of the time he will respond back within 10 minuets.

Thanks I appreciate your help. I figured if I tried they would just advise me not to drill there tanks.

Yeah:
But he'll tell me if it's tempered glass or not.

I know when reached out to them about my Red Sea Max C250 they said none of their tanks were tempered. That said @GoVols reaching out to them seems like the best bet for an honest response.

(lol)
Can someone call me out early in the morning so that I'll remember ;Oldman to shoot Red Sea Kev an email from work?

Kershaw,
Kevin said that Red Sea does not use any tempered glass on their aquariums.

But... He re-affirmed that your always taking an risk.

Good luck with your reefer peninsula.
At the very least, you've got to be excited to be getting a nice tank like that :)

Yea. My goal is no wires or or frag racks in the display I want it to look as good as possible. I would do mp40s for flow but I don’t think they will do that well over 60” distance. Then there are gyres. But I don’t want wires in display. Oh and mp60s cost to much. If I don’t drill I’ll probably go with a gyre

I've got the old Gyre 130. It's been solid as a rock.
I've never broke it down, I just soak it in vinegar for maintenance.
