I have recently read that sponges and bristle worms are very sensitive to H2O2 dosing. This would be a problem for me because I have a sponge population and have bristle worms amongst the rocks in my tank. If they all die at one time this would cause an ammonia spike that could cause much damage to the tank inhabitants. Does anyone have any experience with this happening? I was planning on dosing 1 ml/10 gal to get rid of cyano that nothing else seems to effect.

Turn off all filters and water movement.
Run some airline tubing down handle of net, into net. Then get siphon going, pinch with clothing pin/rubber band. Run line into 5 Gallon bucket below. Now gently lift rock, un-pinch airline and slowly net under the rock pulling it out slowly trying to siphon any bit falling off rock. Place rock in bucket. Now go back siphoning any remaining red slime, not brushing or stirring up tank.

The tank, fill back up slowly doing water change... But when filling you can put tall cup and fill cup slowly til over flows into tank slowly filling back up..
Change your carbon and clean your Pre-Filters. Let that just run while treating your Liverock, but not with anything your worried about the treatment.

Now sand, liverock and old water, double the dosage for 5 Gallon treatment. Leave Powerhead in.
Everyday same dosage.
Next day or so, scrub rock with course 99¢ new heavy duty brush... Dose again, scrub, shake up the sand and pour off. Fill with new saltwater.
Dose few more times..Weeks good, if disaster from beginning continue to dose lil longer....

Now when dosing said and done, do another complete change of buckets water, shaking up gravel again.
Fill up with new saltwater run with carbon, piece of polyfilter and Powerhead.

If polyfilter changes intense colors, discard used polyfilter. Complete bucket change, new saltwater..Carbon piece of polyfilter and Powerhead...

Clear up? Polyfilter?
Should be fine!

Replace in tank, have No Red! Yay

At 1ml per 10 gallons the H2O2 will have little effect of polychaetes or sponges. Some people prepare a dip for Zoas etc. but the concentration is much higher, I am assuming you are using 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. The peroxide doesn't actually last very long but raises the pH and REDOX potential, much the same as Ozone. I did see a video from Australia where a guy was targeting bristle worms to intentionally kill them, he was using 35% and injecting it into the sand. Not sure what the point was, but for what you are doing, 1ml per 10 gallons won't hurt anything. Have you tried other ways to get rid of the cyano? Also, how old is your tank?

Every tank serviced did treatment and worked.

But that's how if at home and wanna rid completely and very thorough...

I don't really ever get red slime, some say the higher end of nitrates is bad, but you didn't say your nitrates were high...

Heard of hydrogen Peroxide, used to treat spikes of Ammonia or if tank (bigger systems) ever have mini cycle after running a long time..

Heard the oxygen helps reduce the ammonia and help skimming of excess ammonia spike...

By doubling dosage in bucket. Cause hate ever treating whole tank cause medications always harm the benefial bacteria levels!
