I do not see a lot of tall tanks. I understand the physics of needing stronger (thicker) glass to make the taller sides and that it becomes more difficult to reach the bottom but I am wondering if taller tanks lead to more water issues.

I ask because I am limited to 52" of tank width. The largest off the shelf tank that I can find is a 48x24x30 with 30" of height. I may have a 52" wide tank made to fill the space but I am wondering if that 30" of height is asking for trouble beyond the physics involved.

I love tall tanks, my tank is so tall LOL. Its all about coral placement, also light penetration but Im running t5 and grow mushrooms and some zoas like rastas on the bottom and they are growing really good. I think tall tanks just look cool too.

There are 30" height tanks around. I used to have one myself. My only issue with the height is that it would sometimes be hard to grab things from the bottom of the tank.

Maybe it's a personal thing, but I like to be able to reach the bottom of my tank without using those grabber things......want to use my hands.

Yea that does become a pain sometimes I'm not gonna lie but in general REEFING ain'T easy lol.

Lighting a 30" tall tank can be an issue, just depends what you want to keep in there.

Um my tank is 36" tall and I can keep whatever I want it's just about coral placement.

I think that is people's main complaint, that reaching the bottom is a pain in the butt.

I have always had taller tanks. My 300g was 30" tall and now my 130g is 26" tall. I want as big of a "window" as possible. It is very easy to reach the bottom if I need to. You just can't be afraid to get your arm wet. ;)

had a 47 gallon column tank 20x22x30 I think. it was an awesome tank. no 30 inches tall wont be a problem. however, be ready for a wet chest every time you have to work in it lol

I have a 32" and BB with seahorses. I'm unfortunately going to switch out of that because it gets to be toooooo much to have to clean that. I have a 30" which isn't bad and the 24" is easy.

No offense but most of those corals could be grown with a flashlight. The issues with deep tanks is growing and keeping harder to stuff colored up without torching the stuff on the top.
