Are the Lani LED's available in the US?

On Ehsan show tank it looks like the Lani lights are 4 to 6 inches above the water? Did you get to see his show tank in Germany Joe? It also looks like the light fixtures should cover the entire water surface? How deep is the show tank?

Scott and I were in Germany in September and fell in love with the lights. They are 40cm square panels running 1 watt leds in a most efficient design. I hope to know in the next few days what the status is on getting them into the states. They are kept approx 5" off the surface. The show tank is around 6' by 6' square.

Since they were running at 1 watt/led, did they seem bright enough to the eye?

they were super bright. I'm not an led expert but apparently running the leds at 1 watt is the optimal wattage for them. If you drive them at 2 or even 3 watts the brightness does not increase in a linear fashion. Heat builds up and they loose efficiency. I believe there are 80 leds pr panel and they are super bright. Par ratings are well over 650 even 12" down. The total tank coverage lighting effect creates light everywhere so even the sides and undersides of the coral seem to be lit up. Light bounces off the side walls, etc. No fans and fully water proof. The gigas clam slams shut every 5 or 10 minutes and drenches the lights.

I hear you. They are pricey. The energy savings is a small plus here in the states. In Germany, there is a huge push for energy efficiency since electric is much more expensive than in the US. This explains whey their pumps and lights are so efficient. We just received this week a shipment from Germany with a giant Destaco calcium reactor, lots of Destaco Calcium reactor media (triton approved and labeled), and some Abyzz pumps. The pumps are super sleek, quiet and incredibly energy efficient. We can't wait to try a few different models on our system this week.

We don't have pricing yet. I spoke with Ehsan today and the good news is that they are planning for a re-release of them in the near future. They made some changes and upgrades but are reluctant to give an estimated ship date at this point in time. As soon as Triton-US finds out about the availability you guys here will be one of the first to know!

Whats the plan with the calc reactor and media? Using at your facility or selling them?

I definitely want to get two Abyzz pumps to replace the old Iwiki pumps. The sump I have is in the basement so the pumps need to pump water up a little more than 10 feet to the tank.

We are setting up the reactor on our 3500 gal system. We want to learn it inside and out before offering them for sale on our site. We hope to have it running by mid next week- man is it a piece of art. I still can't get over the dial control for alkalinity. We have two pallets of the Destaco calcium reactor media which will probably go up on the sites for sale today. We have small containers as well as the 5 gal bucket size.

We just installed the 400 model Abyzz on one of our 2000 gal raceways and it is outflowing a 3/4 hp RK2 pump by quite a bit. No noise, very little heat and almost half the energy to run it. It is almost too good to be true. We will further reduce energy costs by cycling the speed from 50-100% throughout the day and night. So far I'm very impressed with it. We will most likely place another order within a week or two for an air freight shipment. If you wanted them just send me an email and we can finalize things. I should have placeholders for the various sizes with pricing on UniqueCorals by early next week.

There is another thread going about these with some prices. The 16" by 16" model is around $1k or $1.3k for the pro model. They want you to cover your entire aquarium with them so it can get very expensive especially if you have an aquarium with a large surface area.
