I know these things are pretty much the go-to standard for us, but I filled a few with RODI water, didn't get a chance to mix salt yet and they've been sitting for about four days. Are there any dangerous chemicals that might leach from the plastic into the water?

Inquiring minds want to know...

You want to look for if it is good grade safe. I don’t use the Home Depot buckets but I use the Canadian tire ones and have no issues and I’m sure their made the exact same way just different colour/name

They are HDPE. Safe.

Probably little difference but Lowes also sells white "food grade" buckets if you're concerned. The 44g Brutes I use for RODI and mixing are also food grade.

Thanks for the reassurance, folks. Having some peace of mind is helpful in a hobby where things can go south any moment ;-)
