In an "Advanced Aquarist" article, Randy recommended the Hach, Model SI-7, catalog number 22550-00, silicate testing kit. This kit was recommended, in part, since it tested forms of silicon not tested by other kits (if I understand correctly). Considering the kit costs $120, are there any tests that would be sufficient in mid 2018? Hanna checker has gotten good ratings, but this might be because the users aren't familiar with the issues that Randy is familiar with. Any ideas?
