Are there any repercussions to adding crushed coral?

So I'm planning on adding 1 pound or less of crushed coral to the top of the sand bed for a 20g tank for a pearly jawfish and before I do, are there any consequences to this? The tank is not setup yet, and I was just wondering if this would mess up the water parameters. Thanks

Might collect a bit more detritus, but in general, is not an issue.
