someone gave me an aquarium full of rock. The tank was a reef tank that was neglected and it has these things all over it! Idk what they are. Someone said they might be Palythoa but from my research they look more like ball anenomies. Anyone know what they are and how I can get rid of them? Since it is mostly just rock, I’m think of just running freshwater through the tank for a while and then re-establishing the rock but I thought I would ask before I go to that extreme. Thanks in advance!

Ugh, can’t beat free but still a pain to deal with. Is the freshwater idea a good one? There are only like tree mushrooms and a few crappy leathers I don’t want. Thanks for your responses.

I will now go set the tank on fire!

Options are limited but injecting them with vinegar works quite well or boiling them with a majano wand. The rock itself looks quite nice minus the nems so you would hate to kill all the goodies they have.

Manual removal is easy as is injecting the buggers or giving the rocks a vinegar or bleach or acid bath or zap an with the mojo wand

Thanks for the input! I’m not sure if I want to constantly deal with zapping or injecting. They are even in the prefilter box and in the refugium. I will take some time to consider the options I have thanks to your responses. Thanks again!

Maybe limited was the wrong word. Unpalatable and more labor intensive then most are willing to put in lol.
