Yeah there real I don't know the type.. and it will be hard to tell unless you get a side shot to count the dorsal fins and see the markings.. Either way there probably quite expensive..

Were did you find those? and how much? I bet there more than my adult pair of latz clowns..

There is something not right about that photo either. The clowns look real but the photo is not right either.

I agree there is something not quite right I am no professional at ID' for clowns but I have spent a lot of time reading about the majority of the types and I have never seen a pair look like that on-line or in a book.It could just be the angle. But there are new morphs everyday of fish we usually think are common, specially clowns.

These fish are real and will be in our system pretty soon. They are A.Percula and are the offsrping of a very nice pair of Picasso's. The breeder has named them Pico Panda Platinum's since they look like little Panda's ;) Price was fair as far as I am concerned and will make great additions to a couple of lonely clowns we have.....He also posted a video if the pic was not good enough.......

I will see if he wants his info released. These are the only two he had, these are not common and he dosent know if or when he will ever have more? Since they are from the same parents, we will split the pair to spread the genes. If we end up with two from the split up pairs, that show the same traits, we will likely pair those offspring to try and duplicate the strain of the Pico Panda Platinum clowns.....that is at least 3-4 years away though?? Due to our stance on inbreeding, we cant justify letting these two stay together.

GreAt looking clowns would love to get my hands on a pair

My picasso broodstock produce 3 distinct types of platinum offspring. A pure albino (that I think looks terrible), a morph that still keeps a hint of orange on their fins (my favorite) and then these Racoon-Looking types with extra black, especially around the eyes.

I get them pretty frequently from my picasso spawns. So much so that I sell them for my standard price. $250 shipped.

I always thought of them as more Racoon-looking. Definitely rare, but nothing that unique. I sold 3 pairs of them last week. They're on their way to Texas.

I should have more available in August from my St. Patrick's Day hatches.

I suppose a pic is worth a thousand words, eh?

I just really suck at marketing. Referring to these as Racoons is not nearly as cute as calling them Pandas.

Anywho, anyone who has broodstock from Doni should be getting similar morphs.

wow thanks! i was think they are unreal but now i see the racoons lol

Jason awesome clown bro.

Just to be clear.....the broodstock (parents) of the Panda clowns, are NOT from Doni's reef. JasonPG, the Panda's are not like any of the other Platinums that have been showing up, these two have some very distinct features that set them apart. Notice the lack of orange? VERY VERY little orange, mostly in just a fin. These guys are around 9 months and less than an inch at this point, so there growth is slower than most A.Perc in the hobby. They are also very dark around the eye, making the eyes look even larger....thats a few if the different features with the Panda's. Once they mature and see them with their adult colors, hard to say what else may end up unique??

I know they are Tal's. We're friends. In fact, if you look at the "about me" section on my website, I personally thank Tal for his advice.

But back to the Panadas/Racoons. It's funny that you say the Panadas have less orange, because they clearly don't. I see orange on almost every single fin in the top down picture of Tal's pandas, including the anal fin. The Racoon I posted has less orange, but that's probably due to age. I can tell that his Panads are a few months behind the Racoon.

The Panda/Racoon is a common morph that I get from my Picassos and is evidently showing up in Tal's Picassos as well. The fish has a black mask, like a panda or racoon.

I'm going to post pictures of 2 of my platinums from the same batch. These both hatched on June 24, 2011 so you get an idea of the age.

The first one lacks the face mask. No rings around the eyes, no color on the nose.

This is the picture I posted earlier. Again, exact same spawn. But this fish has the mask (and less orange than the younger Panda).

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but we ARE talking about the exact same morph. In a few months Tal's fish will probably darken up a bit and match the coloration on mine. It's not a unique morph.

I mentioned Doni because most people who are breeding her fish are probably getting the same variation and don't even realize it!

Nice clown!!! I might keep an eye out in Aug for one. Maybe my pair will throw one as well .

in a year or so all of us clown breeders will all have the same variants so its really not a big deal...:bounce:
