Are these corals alive? My heater broke and wiped out my fish, snails and hermits and I didn’t think anything would’ve made it but these corals still have some colour
It’s an orange sponge and a candy cane
sorry about the blue I am unable to get white pics as of now and it just makes it worse that the tank is cloudy

They look like they have some life yet. As mentioned above though need whiter pics. Depending on your phone your camera app may have an advanced mode that allows you to change the white balance. If so set it to max and it helps a lot. Otherwise can download an app that allows you to adjust white balance(i use AZ Camera on android).

Allows you to easily take decent pics without changing lights each time.

The fact that there is still some color gives me hope, especially for the trumpet - those things are tough.
Sorry to hear, it always sucks when it’s a simple error/break that does it.

How hot did it get?

some corals may have a bit of a delayed reaction. If there is still color I would say there is still hope but don’t be surprised if it never recovers and ultimately dies.

I had a heater malfunction and cooked my tank. Twice over the years…. And nothing survived either time. There was a few that looked to have some color in the beginning but ultimately didn’t make it.

Sorry to hear about your issue. it’s a huge bummer when something like that happens - hang in there my friend- and I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for your corals and your tank recovery. Take care and happy reefing

That sucks. Have had that happen also. Now use multiple undersized heaters and use an inkbird in hopes to prevent from ever happening again.

Thanks so much everyone for your help.

it got to around 38 C

indeed even with the sub optimal picture it appears to be alive, but not thriving..

water parameters before and after a change would help get more valuable feedback

I had a similar disaster 3 years ago or so and mine got to 38c and at first some corals looked like they may have survived however in reality every last one died eventually. Really sorry to hear this happened to you.

Ouch! 100.4 f!

that’s pretty high, mine hit 102 and was total loss.

I picked up the InkBird heater controller from eBay for around 30-35 bucks for the wireless one - you get notifications and control on your phone plus it will shut off if it measures too high. Totally worth the cost! I’ll never run a tank again without a good heater control AND back up failsafe thru the apex. But if no apex a good heater controller is almost a must in my humble opinion. Much cheaper then loosing everything and gives you some price of mind.

sorry again this happened.

good luck and happy reefing.
