This GSP frag has not opened since I added it 2 weeks ago. Is it dead/should I remove it or is there a chance it will recover?

What are your tank parameters?
1.026 SG, verified with digital meter and refractometer
0 ammonia (all chemistry verified with API and red sea test kits, along with 2nd API test at LFS)
0 nitrites
0-5 nitrates
8.2PH
78 degrees F at all times
RO/DI water via BRS 5-stage unit

I have 2 MP40s on opposite sides of the rear pane of glass running at 35% power reef crest mode during the day and 20% 1 second short pulse at night. I just recently added 2 generic power heads to create surface agitation on the advice of another user.

The parameters you provided wouldn’t seem to cause problems with gsp assuming you have phosphates present. As stated above make sure the frag is free of any irritant. I can’t tell if it’s dead or not from the photo to answer your question. If it’s the only coral not doing well not much you can do besides clean it and wait.

Ok thanks, I appreciate the words. Is there any way I can tell if it is dead? Like if it doesn’t open for x time I should remove it? Or even if it is dead will it cause problems for water quality?

If it dies it can add nutrients to the water column but how significantly it will impact your tank depends on water volume.

Quick update - i noticed that some polyps have emerged after I added 2 new power heads today for surface agitation. The coloration is very bad, almost grey, but I guess it’s a step in the right direction!!

Phosphates are important as propane said . If you could get those would help . A quick way to tell if most of it is dead is to pull out and smell it . If it smells like rotting putred then cut the good stuff that’s sprouting and throw the rest away .
