It looks like a coral. Maybe a goniopora or alveopora?? Is it firm and stony ?
I think you scored.

Does not look like hydroids. Hydroids usually form a thin web that interconnects the polyps, not a solid mat.

This is one form of hydroids:

Yours looks like an encrusting mat, possibly a gorgonian, though the polys seem small and short. very likely something else, but does not appear to be hydroids.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some sort of nuisance that I should remove before it spreads.

I didn't read your response close enough the first time. I have two other goniopora in the tank but this looks different. The polyp looking things appear retracted in this photo but they do extend out a little more from time to time...looks a bit fuzzier some times.

I would say porites as well. They used to come in all the time on fresh live rock.

The little white antennas are spoionid worm. I have seen them in my tank from time to time. As for the brown stuff growing it almost looks like an encrusting monti or possibly sps that is encrusting right now and will shoot up tips at some point. Also the other legs are micro brittle star I have millions of them.
