Are These Large Vermetid Snails

I’ve been watching these grow on the 1 ½ PVC pipe feeding my filter sock. Are these just large vermetid sails?

And more importantly, should I clean them off?

Yes and yes. A few aren't bad but they become a pain when there are a bunch.
