Are these pineapple sponges?

I have these on my hammer coral and it seems upset

I don't think they're pineapple sponges, but I'm not sure what they are. If you poke one, is it hard? They kinda look like vermitid snail shells, and vermitids release a slime net to catch food, which can irritate corals.

they are soft and translucent

I ripped one off and it was a very soft and "sponge" like...100% not a vermatid snail. I have also never witnessed them release any kind of net
 
Probably either a sponge or tunicate. Unlikely to be the thing upsetting the hammer, but you could peel off any that are directly touching its flesh just in case.

thank you. I honestly think they look pretty cool, so i'm just going to leave them be
