My Seneye came in today and I set it up and ran some PAR readings while connected to a Laptop. My PUR stayed around and above 80% so that is good. However, around the top of my rock was showing 1500+ PAR, middle of the tank was around 1000-1200 and bottom of tank at sandbed level was around 500 PAR. I have a 150 gallon 24" deep SPS Acro dominant tank. All of my pieces have good color and good growth.

I have 4 Mars Aqua Black Boxes with upgraded LED's for better spectrum and (2) 80w ATI Blue+ t5's. I took these readings when everything was at 100% which I run peak for about 4 hours a day.

By the looks of your tank I'd say something is up with the seneye perhaps??

I had some Amazon black boxes that were putting out 900+par at 22inches so I'd believe it

If it is true then I dont understand how my needles in haystack isn't melting away at 1500 PAR.

Not complaining just hoping it's not bad out of the box.

That was my thought....at that high something has to burn or melt hahah

Good point lol. I burned a lot of sps when I put up the black boxes on the frag tank, but to be fair the corals were used to about 250 par. You can always rent a par meter or see if anyone in your area has one to compare data, then go from there

Some corals can take 1000+ par, especially reef crest acros

That is true but Needles in haystack is a deep water smooth skin acro getting blasted with 1500 PAR. I don't think that is right. I will make a call to Seneye to confirm with them.

Mars Aqua Leds must be improved. Because when I used them you would take your numbers and divide by ten to get what my Apogee had

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
