Are these some kind of eggs?

I took apart one of my gyre pumps to clean them and found these inside one of the end pieces. Does anyone know what they are? Before I kill them with citric acid.

They seem to be attached to the surface of the pump. 2 of them look like they have smaller "eggs" inside.

They do look like eggs to me. Do you see little yolks inside? I would stick it in a bowl of tank water and see if they hatch, simply because I’m a curious person. If you need to put that piece back in the tank, I still wouldn’t kill them. It’s not like it will be introducing some hitchhiker or parasite to the tank. Nothing that isn’t already in there could’ve laid eggs.

I'm thinking the same thing and I believe I'll try to dislodge them so I can clean the pump and keep an eye on them. They almost look like a sack of eggs or spores. After looking closer, a few seem to be empty. So whatever they are... they're already in my system lol.

I missed it on those pics you posted KJ. The 2nd pic is nassarius eggs and I do have nassarius snails. So hopefully that's it!

Bubble algae has always been green when I've seen it. Although very young algae may be clear? I'm really not sure. I've had it in my tank before but it was very minimal and I haven't seen any bubble algae in months.

I did detach them and dropped them into an empty snail shell. Then set it in the corner of my sump for now.

Will be interesting to see I have not see bubble algae with little bits in it before norm just green bubbes..

I agree. I haven't ruled out bubble algae because of the obvious bubble and that they were secured to the surface of the pump but I'm really not sure yet.

I wonder if a bristle worm or amphipod won’t come eat them in the sump. I guess we’ll have to see. Doesn’t look like bubble algae though.

I suppose that's possible. I thought about putting them in a media bag. Not sure that would help or hurt or if its pointless. Just trying to save any good life in my tank.

Personally, I would just sit them midway up the rock in your dt in the shell. Just make sure it’s a spot where a fish like a tang couldn’t get to it.

I do have a tang that's always picking at rocks. It does give me an idea tho. I have a very small glass bowl. I could turn it over on the shell with the eggs. Give it some flow, and then I could watch to see if anything comes out.
