These little feathery worms (my guess) are everywhere. Is that what they are? I’ve had my tank up for five years now. Is there a need to control them? The lighting is bad due to the lights being
off in the tank so this is my camera’s flash. They’re on the bottoms of the rocks.

Yes tiny feather worms :)
Great filter feeders.

Desirable creatures.

There is a red cluster forming variety. Absolutely stunning. Bright white tubes and bright crimson red 'feathers'.

Our copperband butterfly devours all of them. :-(

I need to grow them in a separate small container in the tank as a constant attempt to reseed the tank with them.

Yep.

You feeding phyto or a particulate food?

That is about the only time I ever see them in this quantity.

In one of my reefs I fed phyto almost everyday and behind my rock on the substrate they reached several inches thick.

Yeah, we use liquids food supplements once or twice a week.

They’re even in the sump chambers. We suction those out when doing WC’s.
