I was very happy to see this thread. I have these same snails and was wondering if they were some variety of sundial snail. I am relieved to find out they are not. Thank goodness something goes right!! thanks for the great info everyone!!

Yep, Collonista snails. I have a quadramillion of them in my tanks and all they munch on is algae. Have never observed them doing any harm.
The sundial snails have a triangular trap door/operculum. The Collonista has a regular flat operculum. This is the best way to tell the difference between sundials and any other snail.
