Will two A160s be enough for a 40b that will have mostly LPS?

For light purposes id say yes. Ive owned the kessil a360 w version and it was awesome on my 25 gallon. Growth was amazing too.

Maybe just get one a360w?

2 160's are better than a single 360 on a 36" tank. 2 360's would be better than 2 160's.

Haha an one AP700 would be better than two 360s, if only I had that kind of cash just chilling :P

I had a a350 over a 40b @8" above thr water line and it barely covered half.

Yup. I'm pretty disappointed with the spread of my 360WE's. I'm just using them for actinic, so not that big of a deal. Just thought they'd be wider.

I do not have a 350 or 360, I have two 160s. At full power they are 40watts I believe.

Just get one a360 now and the other later. I think id be prety dissapointed with 40watts on the 160

I have 2 360 we on my 75gal. Great coverage. I believe Kessel says they will cover a 2ft x 2ft area each. I would recommend the spectral controler too

I have the controller lol just dont have the 360s

Yeah but one 360 is better id say. Optics or not we are talking power here. Power doesnt lie. 40w is 40w and 90w is 90w.

higher power optics i guess would work but would reduce the spread.

Anyone got some comparion pics? Or par meter/ lux meter?

I know the 360 would be better to have but I do not have $800 to buy the two that I would need :( Plus for that I would just get the AP700 at that point

So with this logic, a 400w metal halide lamp with no reflector would be better than a 250w with a reflector...I mean a watt is a watt, right?

A focused optic (60°) will produce more PAR out of a 1w diode than a wide optic (120°) 2w diode.

I agree. Im not sure if you can buy improved optics for kessil lights. Im no light expert but if somone said a ferrari or a porche, id pick the ferrari. Why? Its worth more, and i could sell it for more probably than a porche. But were talking lights here not cars.

If it were me id get the 360 now and save for another later.

I was told Kessils are great for growth but not so much for coverage...
I'm looking to get two rations for my new Red Sea a Reefer 350 setup (pricy though...)

Why not throw a couple t5's on the tank along with the kessils. A 3' retro 2 bulb shouldn't cost more than a $100
