MP 40 is loud.I have a MP 40 and a Jeabo on one tank and you cant here the Jeabo. I have a gyre on the other but i have to run it at 40% and it is quiet

Tank is much too small for a gyre or i would have gotten one already. Its only 20g and its a shallow tank, gyre would turn it into a sandstorm

They sadly all but one of my 26 died :'(
Thats kind of what has been holding me back, I love all the features of vortechs....but man that price is tough to get past lol
Sandstorm? I wouldnt put any sand in that shallow of a tank u'll regret it! The vortechs are gonna blow sand all over the place too.

I have the mp10 and the gyres 150 both is good but like the gyres better because of the price n does outperform the mp10 which so I brought two 150 for one mp40

Even if I use a large grain sand?

Would love the gyre but tank is much too small

Can get 130 n the flow can be adjustable. I have 150 in my 40g breeder tank it the sps seem to be responding well

Gyre or MP?

Are highend lights worth the money? Are skimmers worth the money? It comes down to how much controllability you want. I'll pay the premium all day because I want the controllability and have thousands of livestock in my tank. Why go cheap on one of the most important parts of a reef tank, flow. Just my 2 cents tho

I have never owned a Vortech but I do have a Tunze 6040 in my 15g. It is turned up to 50% main power on the wave feature. Doesn't blow sand everywhere and it is very compact. I love it.

That being said, the last time I had a tank I was using maxi jets. Haha

I have never owned either the Jeabo or a Vortech. But if it was down to those two and I had a nano tank I would go with the Vortech because it tanks up less room in the tank. But also be sure and check out the 6040. They are made to hide behind the rock work low in the tank so they aren't seen.

Space is limited in a nano. I'd want as much room in the tank as possible. Id buy whatever you feel is the best option. For me I hate stuff being in the display itself so the smaller the better if it has to be in there.

I have an mp10 on my 50 gallon for the past 4 years. Totally worth it, thinking about getting a 2nd one for the tank.

I love my vortechs. Ill probably never use another powerhead other than these on any tank. Ive used hydor, tunze and ecotech over the years. As for the gyre im sure its a great pump but ive been burned by build quality by that company too many times to go back to that well again.

I absolutely love the Jebao pumps, and for the price you can't beat them.

If you would have asked me six months ago if Vortechs were worth the cost I would have said no freaking way, what as waste of money. At the time I had 2 x Rw 15's on my tank. They move a ton of water by the way.

Fast forward six months and I have 2 x MP 40's and sold the Rw 15's. Two main reason for me, 1). Undertown, meaning picking up the water from the bottom of the tank to the power head, and 2) no cord. I would honestly would pay the extra cost just for not having cords in the tank. It looks that much better to me. We spend thousands of dollars on our tanks, what's a few hundred extra for a powerhead without an eye sore of a cord in the tank.

In the past I was always a RW fan and said what good value for the money, but that's what it is, value for the money. Buy Vortechs, you won't regret it.

You won't regret it if you do decide to purchase them. I always complained about the price, but then my power heads took a poop and I went with 2 mp40es QD. I couldn't be happier.

Vortechs are 150% worth it. Not only for the reasons that have been mentioned, but the #1 proponent in my book ; no electrical motor within the aquarium! I found that overtime no matter which powerhead I used if it was powered in the tank would leak stray voltage. The "other" powerheads would break down after multiple vinegar baths and leaked voltage all over tank. With the vortechs I dont even have to think about that.
