Are you buying a Seneye reef monitor?

I don't think anyone out there has one yet since they were just released in the US but I'm curious what you all think about the Seneye monitor.

They've got a pre-launch special going until tomorrow so I think I may pick one up.

Wow, I can't believe nobody's interested in this. Well, I guess I'll be the guinea pig then!

No clue when it's going to arrive since it's being shipped over the pond but I'll have a detailed report as soon as I have something to share with you guys.

I was thinking about the possibilities of purchasing one. It really isn't meant for controllability, its simply more of a monitor device. What benefits do you think it will have over a ReefKeeper Lite?

Personally I'm purchasing it for the PAR meter that's built in. Other than that Im not quite sure but I will be running mine along side a RKE.

I think it is a good idea in theory, but there are a few things I don't like about the Seneye. It requires that it be plugged directly into a computer for monitoring to be uploaded to the web. Also the fact that there is a recurring cost to use it monthly I'm not so keen on ($10). I do like that it has a Par/Lux/Kelvin meter built in though, I think that is a great option.

I agree. It would be great at notifying you that the heat or ammonia are elevated when you're out of town...but unless you rush home or call a friend you can fix a problem. I do like the idea of a par meter or lux meter though.

I liked that as well as the ammonia sensor. I thought about picking one up to use in conjuction with my Apex, but haven't made a decision yet. I don't like the monthly fee at all!

I like the concept, but I don't think I'd permanently hang it in the display. It would be another piece of sump tech with the occasional trip to the display for checking PAR levels when needed...

The monthly fee is the deal breaker for me. Attaching the monthly fee to the main features of why I would buy the item is not cool. I have never and will never be a fan of a monthly subscription service to use the item I purchased.

Someone should figure out how to read the data coming off this thing and make a DIY app for it. Then it would be cooler.

I agree the monthly fee isn't idea,l but $120/yr for tracking, NH3, temp and ph monitoring isn't really that out of line...

I got it from UK a month ago. Kinda tricky to set up, looks like there's some software bugs that's not yet fixed. Things like time out script blah blah and then software just shuts down. Still haven't successfully set up yet. I'll try again this Thurs ( my long weekend). Needs IE 9 and my XP can't upgrade, so have to download and use Mozilla. Price and subscription not bad for peace of mind. They will add more Param's to monitor as observed in software.

Well, mine just arrived on my door step. I'll have some pics and first impressions in a new thread later today!

How's everything going? I hope you got no headache in setting it up after 24 hrs chip soaking.

Well, so far I've run into a couple issues.

It seems as though my unit was configured as a seneye home and not a seneye reef which allows for the light monitoring. Customer service has been awesome and in constant contact to help me and answer any questions I may have.

Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

I have noticed the seneye online site runs better on my iPad than it does using Firefox or IE. Strange but true. I'll give some more info when I have time this weekend.

I will also contact them tommorow to finally set it up. I should at least use it's par reader, my primary reason of buying this. Good luck

I got a head of my self. I should have read all the way through. So were did you buy yours?

Thats fast service. Have you tried the par meter yet? What do you think so far. I almost bought it about 10 minutes ago :)
