Are you not adding new fish because you're afraid?

I voted other. Due to the rapid inflation in cost due to covid, putting a $100 fish in and having the others decide they didn't want to be friends was bad enough and now some the fish are we paid a $100 for are $250 and I can't just swallow that pill. Its only happened 3 times to me in the past 20 years but its a chance I now struggle with.

I am actually afraid of both disease and aggression. I have been buying fish from places that QT, but I have not had good luck with treatment of new fish from existing fish lol.....and I don't even have any typically aggressive fish.

I have my first new fish in almost 2 years in QT now. To say afraid is an understatement. Terrified is more appropriate. I have a good thing going and I do not want to ruin it by introducing some kind of disease. Fingers crossed...

I have bought several clams. They come in weak , no new shell, go down hill and so far I have had three die. With a total lose of 450.00. I have had clams for almost 7 years tanks full of them. I also lost a 150.00 dollar fish. I agree this kind of money going down the drain is starting to hurt. They all have a live arrival guarantee but if the animal dies after that it is on you. Most will not give your money back. They will give you store credit which keeps you tied to them.

I voted disease but aggression from one of my fish is a factor to. I added a 2” or so royal gramma as the 6th inhabitant in a very peaceful tank. my firefish now mostly lives in the rocks and my clowns and Mandarin get nipped at the odd time but it’s nothing major. the Mandarin actually charges at it sometimes now if it’s being a dick and the gramma just swims away it’s kind of funny.

I'm not afraid. I'm actively adding fish to my new tank, though I'am also purchasing pre-QT'd fish from vendors I trust.

I have a bit of a problem right now, if I add anything I have an assassin in the tank. My powder blue has become extremely mean. Last one I had many years ago was very docile. This one is probably going to have to go. Not at all worried about deasese.

Voted other. In my large tank, I do not want to add anything, as I think I have enough fish. I do want to add cleaning crue, as I have almost none.
I want to add 2 more fish in my smaller one. I have never quarantine any fish and so far never had problem. But the two fish I want for my smaller tank are difficult to find. I will probably buy them pre quarantine, so I can custom order them and make sure they are healthy, as I have difficulties to find them. I also need cleaning crue for that tank.

I’m afraid to add anything cause everything is so zen right now. Meaning fish attitudes and water testing numbers I fear any change will goof that up.

Dealing with aggression from a yellow tang and a flame angelfish with this new beautiful mystery wrasse. He found a sleeping spot so hopefully they cut it out soon enough.

I voted not afraid, because i would do the qt and would be confident in my doing so. However, I just have not had the time or inclination to do a qt process. I have considered a fully qt'd fish, but am more concerned about that.

I try to research my new sealife before purchase and weigh those options with my existing tankmates whom I’ve had for some years and are large, and aggressive in their territorial attitudes. The costs have gone up too and that’s a consideration but watching a fish get beaten up till it dies is more painful. I don’t QT and that hasn’t been an issue. I would like to add more fish but I would probably have to rearrange the landscape, making some corals probably unhappy. Nope, not today, nor tomorrow….
