I just had a question. Both of my eels like frozen Krill. But its rather small and its hard to get enough in to them. So I bought some raw shrimp with low sodium. They ate it for a few days and now they won't touch it. I bought them silversides. This went very well for a few days. They were eating two per feeding. So I'm not sure what happened but they stopped taking the silversides. So I'm back to Krill which is a pain because the pieces are small. I have to feed it to them mostly frozen so they can get big chunks. It doesn't always work and the krill thaws and goes all over. I have a 13" Snowflake and a 12" Barred. The snowflake is great eater. The Barred doesn't eat like the Snowflake does.

But we do normally feed thawed/frozen shrimp cut into 1/2” pieces. Sometimes silversides or other fish also but shrimp is definitely the favorite. Geometric eel and zebra eel

Low sodium shrimp? What is that?

Ribbon eel goes through different weekly feedings. She doesn't like the same meal repeatedly.

She will nab the other fish's food when she chooses too.
But one week she will get 2 live molly fish, next week a slice of salmon with skin and scales, next week shrimp tail. I gave up on frozen silver sides because they stink.

The other fishes food is a blend of pellets and a mix of fresh as possible in my area seafood, clams, shrimp, mussel, some nori. She just grabs what she wants.

How often are you feeding ?

Its best to have a variety of food if just for their health. I'd try something really smelly though like squid. I'll go to the fish market and ask for like one small one. Along with some small fish and a fatty fish like salmon or trout.

The "low sodium" shrimp is just the shrimp I could find with the lowest sodium at any store. When they get bigger I'm sure it will be easier. My Snowflake is an agressive feeder. Also I feed when they come out looking for food. Its obvious when they are hungry. I don't worry about the Snowflake. The Barred Eel definitely doesn't eat as much as the Snowflake does.

Well you might be feeding too often. Try reducing feedings to once a week if you’re not.
