I had to get a 48 x 18 footprint. No room to change that. I love that I chose a 30" tank! I never get less than a "Wow, that height is awesome" the first time people look at the display. Yeah, dealing with stuff on the floor is a PITA sometimes, but worth it IMO/E.
 
I used to have a 48 x 48 x 24 and can tell you if you have the room that makes an awesome display. I was able to create amazing rock work caves and peninsulas. I had a canopy on the tank with three sides with doors so I could access the tank from just about any angle.
 
I am a short (Vertically challenged) so I am partial to the 21 tall I always helped a buddy w/ a 24 tall and it was a PIA to clean bottom (Jr, I already know what you will say...)
