Picked this up 2 days ago!! It's still coloring up .... i'm thinking maybe armagedon's...what about you guys??

Hmm...I think the true armageddons have a red skirt, is that correct?
It baffles me cause these were so popular a while back, and everyone had them, but yet today, they are rare again. I hope Mohawks become rare again, cause I've got a raging colony going

...not sure on what u mean by the skirt..?
.. but I did notice that the pattern on this polyp is a different from the armageddons in zoaid and others i've seen in r2r but I thought maybe this could be bc the polyps are not fully mature yet... if not.... what could it be?? suggestions?? new morph?..lol I wish

There are a few morphs that look similar, like the Armageddon's, Armor of God, etc that commonly get mislabeled. If you take some of those polyps, put them in another tank, they'll probably look slightly different then yours.

Oh yeah, I hope I didn't come off the wrong way. They are nice polyps, regardless of what they are. Good luck on growing them out.

thanks... that's why I got em :wink:... and if it grows to be a new morph, well...by the looks of it now I kinda hope it does...lol...I don't care if it's armageddon or not I just wanted to know if anyone recognizes it with a common name so I can just refer to it that way! there probably indistinguishable by cientific nomenclature
I love em too!!! This was the first fish I introduced into my tank... about 4 years ago!! Here in PR I at least hadn't seen em on LFS... only on a liveaquaria catalogue:nerd:! And from what I read they were delicate and should be introduced before any other more aggresive species... I was eager to get this fish and went to all LFS I knew asking to order it... eventually everyone brought it. Mine lives with a randall's pistol... what kind of pistol do you have??

Not sure if btkrausen was saying these could be AOG, Devil's Armor, etc... , but I'd definitely say not any of those. I think they are very close to armageddons. The pics. I've seen of true armageddons do have random splatter on the disk and some red on the skirts. If you look close, it looks like there is some very faint red on the skirt. And if the OP is saying they are still coloring up, then very possibly these are true armageddons.
And if not, great find either way. Keep us posted as they continue to color up.

They aren't AOGs for sure, I used to have a huge colony of those back when they were very high in demand. The skirts are not like the AOGs either.

The pair of Yashas live with a Randalls pistol as well, but he's like a third of the size of the Yashas. I have a fantastic pic of a Yasha and the shrimp on my phone, I'll connect it up and post it later on.

goody....that is the same reason why I thought it could be that... some of the pics I saw seemed to have a similar splatter.... but then again... others had a more solid pattern!

Wel then....l I guess we still aren't sure what it is... and we can't make up our minds :cry: ...so I think we'll just have to wait a little see what happens!! And like luisra said take some nice pictues with a good camera... maybe that'll help!!
