In an effort to save some money has anyone tried to modify this lid by cutting the custom cutouts on their own? I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to take a dremel and cutout things like a notch for pump cords as well as cutouts for lights. I plan on ordering a lid for my 525xl and making the custom light mount cutouts myself that way they're precisely cut for my specific mounts and obviously saving me money at the same time.

I suppose it would be fairly easy to make small notches for cords, but doing larger cuts into the frame IMO would weaken the frame and cause a possible break.
As far as precision cuts, they can do it with the best of them.

Has anyone successfully modified an Artfully Acrylic lid? I have one on my Red Sea 650 peninsula and like it very much. My issue is that at 5’4” when I go to remove it, there’s a tendency to have the netting drag across a corner which loosens it. If it could be cut in half, I could accomplish this much easier. I would think it could be cut down the center but would need some sort of reinforcement. Any thoughts? Or anyone’s experience with this?
