I don't understand either...

There's a reason why books on this subject/hobby don't come out that often. The CYCLE is done...

1980, but I can't vote because I refuse to refer to myself as a millennial lol. Not that there's anything wrong with the folks that are your traditional millennials, but people that grew up in the early 80s are vastly different than someone that grew up in the mid-late 90s. For whatever reason, this is the hill I choose to die on lol

Gen X

Baby Boomer here....dad was a WW2 Marine.

Gen-X here.... good ole 1970.... Also we had some of the best music (80's) known to mankind :)

You young whipper snappers need a little history about music...the birth of rock-and-roll in the 50's, and coming on strong in the 60's, was the greatest music of all time. 80's was big hair and high heels (even for the guys).

I'm a first generation reefer. No one else in my family has ever been interested in fish outside of the edible ones- my Dad makes a killer trout vera cruz.

I was born in '85, and absolutely refuse to call myself a millennial, unless I'm being ironic or sarcastic. I am not one of those "young 'uns" or the kids referenced in the grouchy "kids these days..." sentiments. I agree with @tiggs - there's a vast difference between people my age and people 10-15 years younger! :D

Gen X, born just before we walked on the moon. What happened to Generation Y....I though that was what they were calling the mid 80's kids? I would think Millennials would be born after 2000...but that makes too much sense. Generation Z....what the heck is that, the zombie generation?

A common misconception about Millennials. Everyone loves to hate us and lump all young people into the same gen group for some reason. Must of us just like the environment and think healthcare would be nice. Millennials are 1981-97 or 1980-99. I'm 1994 here myself.

1958 here and proud to be labeled a baby boomer. I don't think anyone should be upset over the generations and should be proud of their generation. I don't agree with generation negative stigma as I like to see positive from all.

I also like the thread here being polite and it appears the generations are ALL communicating in it. How awesome is that?!

OP here.

Point of this poll is to see what kind of cross-section of people are out there..... seems to be a lot of differing opinions on some major subjects.....

I assume, yes assume, but I could be wrong that:
Millennials tend to agree with Millennials
GenXers tend to agree with GenXers

Millennial here, born in 88. My mom (born 1949) also kept a Saltwater tank; a 180g~ hexagon. I am continuing that tradition!

By your definitions, GenX... but not by much. I'd say my upbringing would put me more in line philosophically with Boomers.
