This forum and members here have inspired me to get back in the game! Fist post. I got my ASM G3 up and running after a several year hiatus. It’s leaking a both ends of the pump to skimmer elbow. A little bit of dry rotted purple material came out when I checked it. My question is would a replacement elbow fix this issue, or is there a way to fix it? I thought about sealing or gluing it, but it really should be removable. Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at in the photo. If you're talking about the elbow that comes off the pump and onto the stub that enters the body, then it would work better if it' not leaking, but will still work with a minor leak, just probably not as efficient. The only way I'd imagine it would leak is if one of the items are cracked. Check the pump nipple, elbow or body nipple. Yeah, it's best not to glue these items, you'll want the ability to take them apart for cleaning.

Yes, that’s the elbow from the pump to the skimmer. Minor leak. It is not cracked. It’s like there was maybe some rubbery material in the elbow that wore away over time, but I’m not sure.

That elbow is a standard size, you should be able to go to HD or Lowes and pickup a new one for under $1, it'll just be white. I remember it was a standard size, maybe 3/4".

I'm guessing either the elbow or the fitting was loose & silicone was used to stop it, maybe.

Thank you. Whatever was in it was factory, which makes me think a standard fitting might leak without whatever they put in them.
