Just a quick question on ASM skimmer. I am curious what the difference is between the ASM1,2,3,&4 skimmers. Size, Height, Pumps, etc....... I have an ASM1 on a 120 and would like to upgrade. But if I can just ad a larger pump that would be nice. It has the Sedra 3500 on it but I have to restrict the flow to get the foam to the top. Cant I get a larger pump and use less restriction? Just curious as to what others think before I buy a $100 plus pump with no better results.

Thanks

Hi Tony, stock pump is a 2500 on the #1 so the 3500 is upgraded now? How are you restricting the flow? by extending the outflow tube? a bigger pump would possibly leave you with micro bubbles as the body may not be big enough for more volume, there are some good mods to recirculate that skimmer and just add a small feed pump instead of the one pump trying to do two jobs

IThe restriction is from a PVC valve (kinda like a faucet nozzel) Kewl thanks for the tip.

I have ASM G2 skimmers and did the mesh mod on the impellers. I think it made a huge difference in performance and it's cheap to do. Get the supplies here: www.meshmod.net
