I recently began the electrical phase of my build, and I need some advice regarding wire management.
I secured equipment on a couple of controller boards, which are mounted on the wall next to my aquarium. This is the only place that the aquarium can go in the room that it’s allowed to be in, per property management (I live in an apartment). I have had to use a few 16-gauge extension cords to connect some of the equipment to an available outlet, which is to the right of the aquarium, behind the TV stand. That has required a few power bricks and connections between cords to be placed behind the tank, between cord management tracks. Below is a photo that displays what I mean.
The controller boards are shown on the left of the aquarium. You can also see the electrical outlets to the right of the aquarium (behind the pulled-out TV stand):
The wires will be cleaned up after I have a better grasp on connections.
You can also see behind the aquarium in the next photo. I was standing behind the TV stand and facing the controller boards. Notice the break in the cord management tracks, which is to allow space for power bricks and other connections. This is also where cords from inside of the stand will be routed to the equipment on the controller boards. I have left ~8 inches of clearance between the aquarium and wall.
I apologize for the poor lighting; I didn’t realize it is poor until I uploaded the photos.
Since I don’t have enough cord between the equipment that is mounted on the controller boards and the outlets, I had to use extension cords to provide the length to be able to conceal the cords. However, this has left a couple of power bricks on the floor behind the aquarium, which is likely not a good place for them.
Should I create drip loops by mounting the power bricks to the wall? If I do that, does it really make much of a difference since there is a chance that water could still reach them, which could be caused by accidental sprays or splashes?
Thank you so much for your time and advice.
