Hello all.

I have been struggling for many years trying to figure out why I have so many issues with my reef tank. Recently I have been doing a lot of research and realized that perhaps my tank is a ULNS system and I am going about it wrong. I have lost many corals and clams over the years due to this more then likely.

So my tank always seems to have 0-1 PPM of Nitrate and 0 phosphates. My glass barely ever has any algae but sometimes my sand bed does. I from time to time have got cyano. I have a skimmer and carbon reactor. Naturally my tank seems to keep the nutrients in check with simple 20% water changes bi-weekly. However all my Acros are brown and barely grow. Some of them are dead at the roots (all white). Most of my LPS barely extend there polyps.

I have recently (In the last 2 weeks) started dosing heavy on Reef Energy A+B and started doing Reef Colors A, B, C, D by Red Sea. I have a calcium reactor to maintain the Alk, Ca, and Mag. Is there anything I am missing or something I should consider. I do not mind throwing money at this if it helps my reef thrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have posted my water parameters below.

65 Gallon
Alk - 8.3 dkh
Mag - 1350 ppm
Ca - 420 ppm
Phos - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 0 ppm
Salinity - 33ppt

Radeon Gen4 X30R
Maxspect Gyre
Nyos 160 Skimmer

Thank you!

I would shut down the skimmer and pull the reactor for a few weeks and see if there’s an improvement.. you can also stop using filter socks and do fewer water changes
