Interesting read. I think it’s hard to complain about the ethics of speeding evolution for more heat resistant corals and not be concerned with the fact that corals need to be more heat resistant If they are to survive.
Interesting! Heat isn’t the only thing the corals are fighting, and I’m curious to see if they’re taking a similar strategy for other stressors. IIRC there are several different clades of zooxanthellae, each with unique characteristics. I wonder how that plays into this situation, or if their engineering takes a different approach.
