The OP description of event is identical to what I just witnessed.

Ever since I bought this large colony of zoas/palys at my LFS I've been seeing asterina starfish popping up. Not a lot about 4 total now. It's been a little over a month I guess. I had moved this colony to a new location in my tank about a week ago. I moved it close to where there is a very small glass anemone. I was kinda hoping the paly tentacles might kill it while I wait for my aptasia x. Not so but kinda figured. Yesterday I saw a tiny blob like creature near the glass anemone kinda touching the colony. It's so small I just couldn't tell what it was at the time. This morning when my lights came on its on the exact location of the anemone. I still can't tell what it is. I got a bright flashlight and it began moving. Snagged it with my tweezers and as soon as I grabbed it I knew it was the smallest asterina I've seen yet. Did some googling and came across the above linked story. Matches up perfectly.

So, I believe this baby came off this zoa/paly colony. There are so many polyps it's very difficult to study down deep, without stressing it a lot. This colony gets really mad when I handle it and sends out tons of stingers. I'd like to avoid making that happen.

I don't have a picture of the starfish I flushed it before getting a pic. I don't have a pic of the anemone, as it's either gone or still withdrawn. Here is a pic of the colony and it's current position.

On the edge of the rock within the center of the small circle was the origional position of the asterina, within the center of the larger oval circle is the location of the anemone.

It's been my personal experience that if the Asterina are hanging out on or around zoanthids then they are also likely eating the zoanthids.

The anemone is still missing but could just be hiding. Just like in the related story. This star was so small it hadn't had a chance to make its legs. I've found they are getting smaller. I really hope I'm going to stop seeing these, as I have 15+ zoa/paly frags.
