Hello guys, please can you help identify this starfish that I've just found in my frag tank? Must have came in with one of the new arrivals yesterday. Is it beneficial and I can add him to my main display or is it one of the coral eating nuisances that should be burnt with fire?

Thus thing is literally miniscule, like the size of a tic tac

Hahahah the nuke going off is hilarious. That star fish is darker then the asterinas I’ve had. Does anyone know of an invasive starfish species?

I have them in a mixed reef and they just eat algae. Numbers have never gone to plague proportions. I like diversity though and appreciate most little interesting things the ocean has to offer.

I never trust the dark/black asterinas, there is a variant that eats zoanthids and they are darker in color than the harmless mostly-white ones that are common in the hobby.
Thought as much, I always thought asterina's were white so seeing this little guy the same colour as the frag rock made me question it, I had found 4 on the same piece and flushed them all. No more spotted just yet, luckily it's a bare bottom with only two frags in there
