Asterina Stars for Fuges

I have hundreds of them and until yesterday, they were harmless grazers. I found one munching on a Nightmare paly last night, which is a big no no. So I am plucking them out and giving them away to whomever wants them. All you need to pay for is shipping. I can guarantee overnight shipping only, which is usually around $30 to CONUS.

Package will contain approximately 50-60 stars.

My tank started with a few then exploded into thousands. Now I have a couple fat harlequin shrimp. I did not realize there was a market for the little stars.

They are good scavengers for the most part, until they get an appetite for zoas. I have sold a few here and there before, mostly for peoples fuges.

I have had them for years and they have behaved themselves until a few days ago, and it's difficult to tell the difference between the good and bad, so now I am trying to get rid of them. I have already plucked about 30 or so and put them in my sump, but I figured I would offer them up for free if anyone wanted them.

I had over a few hundred of them in my Display, after purchasing a Harlequin shrimp over a month ago the population of stars must be under 20 now because I barely see any.

other than harlequin shrimp are there other methods to eradicate stars

not if you have other inverts in the tank.. but if you don't I'm pretty sure interceptor will take them out

Don't think it works, I treated with interceptor about a year ago and I have loads of Asterinas still, without adding more rock.

I treated for flatworms, and didn't realize how bad the die off would effect the tank. I lost about half my sps, and half my lps, (of cource my 4 nice chalice pieces all went) from the die off toxins the flat worms released, But hey it killed off almost all the Asterina Starfish that had started eating zoanthids just a few days before. Now I just need a Harliquin shrimp (LFS should have it this week) to finish off the little suckers. They were fine until I finally got rid of all my nusance algae from the display. I think they were eating it, so then they started eating my zoos, and theyn targeted and completely destroyed stuff I only had one or two polyps of, like my spidermans, and my tubs blues. This week has really been bad inside my tank. Looked better than ever before just for a week. Now it looks like a bomb went off. Guess I should have tried harder to suck more out before treating. But hey, my starfish problem is much better. You can copy my method if you want. LOL

If you have them just in the fuge, won't the end up in the display? I removed the filter on my return, so pods could make it through.

Does anyone KNOW if interceptor really does the trick? Ive never heard that. Is it true?

I have treated with Interceptor and it had no effect on the stars.
